Hi this is papaw, I've got an "87 thumper 4 speed, I haven't rode in a long time but I'm getting back into riding now.  I'm from NE Alabama and I'm retired.  I hope to get to ride quite a bit this summer.   Grin

OK...first off...don't attempt to adjust your set! Grin
I purposely made this pic look the way it does. Goin' for the "Vintage Photo" thing...Oh well...

I'm married to a GREAT girl who totally supports my two-wheeled affection! GOD is gooood! Wink

I have two kids. A son who is 2 1/2...he gets on me if I just say 2 Grin...and a baby girl who just turned 1. She doesn't mind so much  Roll Eyes

I am a janitor at a little elementary school where the kids think it's the coolest thing that their janitor rides a motorcycle! Grin

And I really rely on the Three F's to get me through my day-to-day...
Faith, Family, and Friends...

That's me in a nutshell...

Nice to meet all of you! Smiley

Now if you'll excuse me...the roads are a callin'! Cool

Pawpaw, I'm probably less than 45 minutes from you.  Holler at me some day for riding and wrenching.

This is Tyson--don't have a cool nickname.  I live in Eastern Iowa and run a Bible Camp.  My Savage helped me save money and scoot around Dallas as I worked through seminary.  Now I've started to do the fun stuff--rejetted carbs, open exhaust, and more to come!

Hi my name is Stace.  I've been just reading posts for the last week, its about time I join in.  I'm 53 and work in a lab for an oil refinery(used to be a pipefitter, but my knees and back couldn't take it).  I bought my 2005 ls650 last August with 3000 miles and took my MSF.  I can't believe how much fun I have on this thing.  I even look forward to going to work, knowing I'm also getting a ride in.  Guitar has been my obsession/ passion for the last 35 years, but riding is close to taking over.  I'm amazed at what you guys have done with your bikes and can't wait to start stacen' mine up. Look forward to talkin to yall.

Oh that is a good one.  I gotta see if Montana lets you put seven characters on a MC plate.  I think    BBLTHMP  would be a cool one.  Probably more fitting for a bible camp operator than a wayward preacher's kid, but I like it nonetheless.

New member from Wendell, NC.  Cool

I purchased my 96 Savage 650 last May just after taking the MSF course. I absolutely love my bike - as it suites me being vertically challenged and I can still keep up with the boys. I just rolled over 6K miles; she had 3K when I bought her.

I've enjoyed reading through some of the posts and realizing that we all have similar problems! Backfiring.... running rich.... uncomfortable seat... and especially enjoyed reading all of the solutions that have been suggested. I look forward to what this forum has to offer and who knows... maybe i'll even be able to chime in a time or two Smiley

Hi All

Bought an 09 S40 back in feb and love it!
This my 4th bike, been riding for 35 years now.

Just finished up 21 years on a kawi 454LTD.
It blew the water pump oil seal and destructed.
So, i wanted a similar bike.

I do miss the center stand, tach, and trip meter, though.
Hafta get used to the simplicity - trade offs!
But, simplicity is what the S40 is all about.
I like being able to get to stuff easliy for maintenance / repair.
Not to mention the light weight,
good handling, and great MPG.

I like the site / great folks.
Happy riding!

Alzie

Welcome to all the newbies that have signed up. You won't find a better place for info about this bike or a better bunch of nuts (the riding kind not the fastening kind) LOL
