Hi L_Geez,

I started back up riding on a 85 Rebel.  Sure was a fun little bike, especially in the hills/mountains around here.  If you find the Rebel a little slow or small for your needs, you should have little trouble making the transition to the Savage.  It's a larger bike, but not by much.  Only weighs 50-75 lbs more, if I remember right.  And it's just as easy or easier to maintain as the Rebel.  And they are cheap!

To post a picture, you have to upload it to another site, like bikepics.com, and then link to the picture.  There are instruction somewhere on this site explaining how to do it.

Ok, finally got around to taking a bike pic, WITH ME IN IT! Shocked  Small children, and people with weak constitutions, please look away! Grin

That Helmet Halo reflects pretty good.

Edit: guess I could throw in a pic of what it looks like on the other side of the guardrail in the pic.

Hey, don't knock the flannel! Grin  It's still chilly here when the sun goes down, and that was taken around 8pm tonight.  It was in the 40's when I was coming home.
You want pics?  Just remember, you asked for it! Shocked  I'll try not to go too crazy, but since I got the digital camera, I take a lot, and hardly ever delete any. Roll Eyes

Rebuilt tunnel along old Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway.  Used to be the only way down the Gorge until I-84 came along.  It's only open to foot and bicycle traffic now.

One of the smaller falls (Latourell Falls, just checked) along said highway.

Bridge across the creek from above falls:

Looking east from Crown Point, along the same highway:

If you look above the shorter clump of trees on the right, the light little blob is the building at Crown Point, seen from the north side of the Columbia:

A pic of the scenic highway from last August, to remind us all the nice weather WILL return... eventually Roll Eyes:

Bridge over the second fall of Multnomah Falls:

The best pic I have of the falls; the bridge is hidden behind the trees:

Hope I didn't go too far overboard with all the pics. Cheesy

Those pics are sweet.  I just might need to use one or two as a desktop from time to time, if you don't mind.

I'd be proud to have anyone that wants to use them, help yourselves!  Gonna try and link to the photobucket folder I have 'em in, they'd be higher quality.  Hopefully it works!

Yep, Ron & thanks. Being retired has its advantages.  If I can get some straight answers, I may be riding an S40 to Toledo Bend with ya sometime. They got a pretty silver & white 09 in at a local dealership.

The topics presented seem a bit on the veteran wrench bender side, though.

Not so, we got the whole range of experience here, but these guys are great helping with the info and suggestions. I too am looking at the S40 for my next bike, when and if I can manage it. Good luck.

Hi all!

Just stopping by to introduce myself.  I'm buying a 2003 Suzuki Savage LS650P from a friend, and he recommended this forum to me so I thought I'd swing by and check you out.   Wink

Anyway, I'm re-entering the biking world after an almost 6-year hiatus, so I'm seriously excited about getting back into it.  I've REALLY missed it.

Take care and ride safe everyone,

Rebel

Welcome to the forums SR!
Now's the time to get your knees back in the breeze. You're gonna love the Savage. When you get some time, post a pic of your bike in the RSD forum.

Welcome!  Which end of Nebraska did you live in?  I grew up in western Nebraska, literally the middle of nowhere: 37 miles to town, 7 of it paved! Grin
