Amen to that, gj859.  The great state of Montana FINALLY blessed me with an appointment to get my endorsement yesterday.  They have this tiny little course set up with a top speed of 17 mph.  It almost kicked my butt.  Those low speed turns are tough when you aren't allowed to put your foot down.  But the Purple People Eater brought me through it, despite my efforts to screw things up. Wink

Calalli, tell your wife that every rider is condemned to drop their bike three times in their life.  It's the rules.  Now that you've used up your allotment of gravity, you'll be good to go.  If that makes her feel better, let me know.  I have a bridge for sale.

Hello all. I am From Good ole WV. I been riding for awhile on and off. Just bought an 01 Savage a few weeks ago to save on gas and man I love this bike. Rides like a dream and has great power! Glad to find a forum of fellow Savage lovers! Have ridden a bunch of different bikes and this dude is the smoothest yet. Not to knock the HD's but it is smoother and seems perkier than my father-in-laws Sportster. Well anyway glad to be aboard! Cool

Hello.  I'm Steve.  I'm a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.  I just got back from a tour in Iraq's al-Anbar province.  I'm an ammunition & explosives specialist and a martial arts instructor.

I spent most of my tour comforting myself with thoughts of buying a 1986 Chevy K5 Blazer.  But when I got home gas was through the roof.  I told the wife I was finally going to buy the bike.  I had bought a jacket and gear about 2 years ago and then the bottom fell out in a financial emergency a week before getting the bike.

I fell in love with Suzuki's Boulevard line.  I like HD's, but i'm kind of anti-establishment and hate trends, etc.  I wanted to be able to get a cruiser without drinking the kool-aid.

Found a 2003 Savage at a local Suzuki dealership.  It was the owner's niece's.  I kind of wanted a beat up bike I could play rough with.  The Savage was just my speed.  This one was near mint, so I had to deal with the fact that I would probably put the first dents and dings in her.

I've put about a 1,000 miles on the bike in the last 3 weeks.  I live right off of historic Route 66 in Missouri, so I've done a lot of riding the narrow, winding, tree-covered back highways.  Beautiful, and an American dream come true.

Finished a MSF course last week, too.  Rode my bike an hour each way to the course to sit on a Honda Rebel all day.  It made the ride home a real privilege.

I love the bike and plan to ride her 'til she dies, bring her back and then ride her some more.

Hi everyone.  I am Fiesty Limited.  Fiesty is exactly what everyone tells me I am so it is probably true.  Limited is what I am for a number of reasons.  The main one being I have been looking for a new bike for quite some time now and can't seem to find the right one.  I am convinced I need bigger than a 250 which is what I have now, and that it should be an S40 or S50 Boulevard.  The other one being my family trying to keep me out of trouble by limiting my fun which is probably a good thing.
I am neighbors with Sandy Kookanusa who recommended this site to me and so far I have read everything I could find. This is a great site and the only one of this type that I have ever wanted to be involved with.
I wish I could have been in on the buzz to Philipsburg but am looking forward to future road trips.

Hello, I'm Frank. I'm 41 and from Michigan. I've ridden most of my adult life but took some time off after starting a family. I'd always had muscle or sport bikes and been more a Yamaha man, but the big single always my name on it. So last week I picked up a low mile 1997. Next to an old XS 1100, it's one of the smoothest bikes I've owned. It's got a sportier low rise bar with neat white grips. Black (blue flake) paint with S40 grab rails (sans back rest). I also plan on wrapping the head pipe with white header wrap for an old school look. Along with a   louder slip on and mandatory carb kit and K&N filter. All in due time though. I'm enjoying the board and how it touches on so many Savage related topics.

Hello from Houston, Texas first time Savage owner, long time Bike rider. I was pleasantly suprised with the power of such a little bike, as i've only had it for a week. only problem i have with its design is no fuel gauge and  the leak from the motor.

Here are some pics I took of it the day it came home. I payed $1800 for a 2001 model with 1800 miles on the clock and now issues besides the backfireing  Cool

Hi everyone.  I'm Stacey.  Newlywed (1 year) with 4 children.  Ok, one is a young adult.  I'm 38.  And for some reason I feel like I'm at Bikaholics Anonymous.  (This is where you all say, 'Hi, Stacey,' in that creepy Stepford / unison way)

My first bike was a late 70's model Kawasaki 400.  I could barely touch the ground.  It was purely recreational riding, and the bike was a little rough, and well, so was I.

About a month ago I bought a 2001 Suzuki GS250.  Great beginner bike, but three weeks into it, when I heard of a 2000 Savage 650 sitting in a co-workers garage, I was really feeling the upgrade.  Especially since it's green, just like mine, but with the large white swoop on the tank.  My new helmet and leather coat are white.   Roll Eyes

So, now I've got both.  I'll hold onto the gs250 for my husband and I to get our licenses on.  Also, we'll probably ride the 2 Suzukis for a while until his Kawasaki 440 is repaired.

I've enjoyed looking at other members pics, so I'll add one of mine.  Smiley

Texas1lung, your engine looks like mine.  The side with the kickstand has that same fluid mess.  We just bought the bike today, but my husband thinks it is because the petcock was left in 'prime' position, allowing the gas to freeflow through the carb and leak out.  Maybe we'll find that isn't the case at all.

Hi Folks,

After owning a Rebel and two Harleys, I finally got the motorcycle I was meant to have - and you know which one that is!

I bought a used 2007 last week and I love it.  It came with a windshield, engine guards, a sissy bar and a luggage rack.   The two things that I had planned to buy was the windshield and the engine guards.  so the other two extras were bonuses.  The last harley I had was a 1450 Deluxe.  I had it lowered so I could flat foot it, but that sucker was difficult to back up and tight turns were funky.  The first harley I got, the sportster was top heavy and the Rebel, well I was always sorry that I traded it in, but now that I have the S40, I have no more regrets.

Grin I just love this bike.  It is perfect for me.  I have an inseam of 29 inches but I can ride it with running shoes and even shorts.  I know that it is safer to be in full riding gear, but it's so nice to just hop on the  Suzuki and take off.  For me, that is part of the beauty of it.

I live in  Miami, and if finally stopped raining.  Today would be a beautiful day to ride but I have workers in the house fixing windows..so I'm stuck inside for a while.

Great forum with lots of good information and everyone has been so helpful.  Thank you.

Hello everyone. Been lurking a bit, finally registered recently. I'm in southern Maine. Sold my truck yesterday, went to the bank to cash the check, and directly to the dealer. Smiley Had to come home to get my son off the bus from school, hook up my trailer and pick up my new 2007 left-over S40. 2 miles on the odo. Need to call around today to sign up to get my permit.
