I am a relatively new S40 owner, but, with the tremendous help of this forum, I have learned more than I ever would have anywhere or with anyone else! The helpful mentors that have spent countless hours in responding to questions, offering detailed descriptions, and even posting pics of work done have helped me become an expert on every job or mod I attempt.
I purchased the bike on Valentine's day (my wife was all for it), and I have been on this site everyday since then. I purchased it with 3300 mi on it and I have put a little over 400 mi on it since and I love it more and more every time I ride it.
I knew right away the stock muffler was a no go. My wife and I compared it to the sound of the Jetsons mobile. First thing I did was to swap it out with a 2008 HD heritage softail muffler. That worked really well for several months. Right after that I did the air/fuel mix drilling to help with the newly acquired explosions on shut down; I highly recommend it.....the drilling, not the explosions Wink Was a very easy fix and I now have the CONTROL!!  Grin
A week ago I purchased the turnout muffler you see in the pic. Sounds great and feels great. Next on the agenda is some more performance mods....can't wait to get started!

I realized after I posted my intro that I didn't attach pics or mention what year my bike is  Embarrassed

It's a 2011

Great to be here and a part of this community!

TG, what kind of pipe is that? It looks identical to the one that came on mine, but it looks like yours has some kind of heat shield maybe? or is the muffler just that big?

Just a simple thread for folks to introduce themselves.  However, if you have questions, please read the posting guidelines and either post your question in an existing topic on that subject or start a new thread in the appropriate forum.  Thanks and welcome to the site!

The above quote is from the very first posting in this section.

Just a reminder......This is for introducing yourself and a way for us to meet the new members.  Questions and discussions about bikes are supposed to go in other areas.  You can send personal messages or emails to the other members if you have questions.

Sorry Dave. Thanks TG. Welcome to the forum!

Nickynicknick. - No need to feel sorry......just trying to do my assigned moderator duties and keep things in order.  It takes a while for us all  to learn where everything belongs in this forum.  Dave

Just a short intro . First bike at 17.  A new 1959 650 cc Triumph Bonneville first year for dual carbs. It was the hottest thing you buy
Now at 71 looking at a 650 cc Suzuki that is touted as a beginner bike for people with short legs.lol.  I'm neither of those [img][/img]

Hi folks. Another new user here. Scheduled to take the MSF course soon, but have been looking at bikes in the meantime. For whatever reason, the s40/LS650 caught my eye. Perhaps the  fact that it has that cruiser look but much lighter than others that are on the market. Hope to go look at a few soon to see how they feel.
