Hi, Carl here. I've  had about 40 bikes. I bought an '08 S40 last spring with 1200 mi. I got it with the plan of turning it into an old looking trials/scrambler. I've been buying some stuff already, old looking solo seat, rubber fork covers, handlebars, Lucas style tail light,18" rim for the rear, etc. Once I get started on the build I'll post pictures of each step. I'm pounding out my own fenders and I built a muffler from an old dune buggy one. Thanks for all the info on this site. I think I learn something every time I get on.

I was told from the time I was small that riding wasn't for girls.  Widowed now, it's time to do things for myself.  Took the Team Oregon training this summer and have pretty much parked my '47 Chev & the '50 Plymouth unless a kid needs to go somewhere.  I've learned a lot:

- bugs stick in lipstick,
- 65 is really fast without sheet metal around you,
- always braid your hair,
- carry rain gear (especially important in Portland),
- know how many miles you've got in the tank.

I've been reading the forums and picking up many good tips, ideas and generally enjoying the humor here.  I modified my spark plug access with the help of gazab44's post.

Just want to note that bike people are way more accepting of females barging in on male territory than the car dudes are.  When a guy asks about my bike at Beaches (Portland's big weekly car/bike event) they look at me and direct questions my way.  When I've got one of the old cars - they always talk to the boys I'm with and pretty much ignore my presence.  Unfortunately I know next to nothing about my bike.  I am very knowledgeable about my cars - I can do pretty much anything that needs to be done - and have!

Nice to meet ya'll! Cheesy

Well I've asked a couple of questions on here already so I figured it was time to introduce myself.  I just bought my first motorcycle a few weeks ago.  It's a 2002 Savage.  I live in South Georgia, so far south that it's a 30 minute drive to Tallahasse FL.

You are probably trying to post them using the site storage which is full.  You have to host them somewhere else, then link them here.

Here are instructions...  http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1240899665

Oh, and they aren't too hard on us ladies here.  I whip them around every once in a while, but mostly they behave.   Wink

So welcome to the Zoo!

Hi to all the new folks.

McMillan, that's a sweet lookin' machine you got started there.  I always love the pics from behind.  Shows what a sexy bike this is, huh?  I especially love your mirrors.  Welcome aboard!

Hi all! I'm just a 18 year old kid with a need for (moderate) speed. I don't actually have a Savage or S40 . . .  yet. I came across the board in the research-search and had a few questions I couldn't find answers here with the search thing. So I figured I'd just join up. Now I just hope everything does go acording to plan and I do get a Savage. hahaha

My dad's been riding a 2003 Kawisaki Concours for about a year now and we have loved it. Granted mom has been doing the majority of the riding on the back, but I've had my taste of freedom. Seeming as how next year will be my last summer at home before college, Dad's wanting to live it up a bit. I'm all for it. Grin

So we're now shopping for a Zuki so i can run around with my dad next year when the snow clears. (I'm in Idaho, so it'll be a while)
