Then all you will need is a after market muffler to make it sound like a motorcycle

Thanks for the welcome! The dealer did not service the bike, they took it in on trade, inspected it (whatever that entails) and put it up for sale. I've been reading the carburetor threads and was also thinking about that exhaust, not so much for the sound but to help it breath and develop a little more horsepower. I've read that this bike has 26-30 hp but I have not seen Suzuki's official rating.

A dealer not willing to even change the oil and filters ain't worth much.

Hi everyone, I'm Cathy, and I'm from South Africa (hence AfSav - short for African Savage!) where I live about half the time in Cape Town and the other half in a semi-desert area called the Little Karoo where we have a piece of wilderness - I'm a bit of a bush kid!
My '91 LS650 is my fist bike - after 24+ years as my husband's pillion, we finally found a bike I could sit on with feet flat on the ground - like many others on this forum, I, too, suffer from duck's disease - butt too close to the ground!!
Bought the bike last July, but I only really started riding her last October - the bike needed a bit of an overhaul first, but now all problems are sorted out, and she goes like a bom.
And I'm loving it - both riding my own bike, finally, and the Savage - what an amazing bike!!
Great forum, too - thanks!

Hi all.
As the thread title suggests I am a new member from Southern Illinois and recently purchased a pretty nice example of a 1996 LS650 Savage with 12k miles for my SOs first bike.
Bike came with leather saddlebags, engine protection bars, driving lights and windshield, new battery and tires, basically ready to go
We are looking forward to now being able to ride together on our own bikes.
The SO passed her MSF in late 2009 and since then we have been looking for her first bike and to that end just purchased the '96 Savage beleiving it will be easy to learn, ride, survive and work on.
For myself, I have been riding and touring for 35 years and at present ride a Suzuki SV650S which I turned into a sport/tourer. I joined this forum as I have found forums such as these are a valuable resource to acquire information, tips and tricks for your bike.

Hi, I'm Hardway from Jersey, Hopefully when I'm done you wont think I ruined this bike too badly. The Ryca kits are way cool but I just dont have the dough.
