Welcome to the newest dudes and dudettes.
You have chosen a good bike to ride; it's lots of fun.
If you need help just holler and someone will respond.   Wink

Hello folks!  I'm Jason and I live in Central Texas, just north of Austin.  Growing up I was on motor scooters, bicycles and friend's dirt bikes all the time, but after I got my drivers license I bought a car and forgot about bikes... or so I thought.

I finally listened to the voice in the back of my head last year and completed my MSF, got my M endorsement, and have been on two wheels daily ever since.  My daily ride is an 03 Honda ST1300, and I also have a 1980 Suzuki GS850.  My wife and I love getting on the Honda together and getting lost for a few hours or a few days.

My wife has completed her MSF course and has her M endorsement too, but the old, tall, heavy GS850 that was my reentry into the world of riding is a bit too imposing for her.  Needless to say, the ST1300 isn't a good bike to learn on either, as it is even heavier and with 120HP isn't very forgiving.

So, tonight we purchased an 03 Savage for her to ride.  From the moment she sat on the bike, she felt comfortable with the height and weight.  I have to say, I was really impressed with how the little LS felt when I took it out for a test ride, and it came home with us.

It needs some work before it's ready for daily road duty, but I sure did enjoy riding it home.  I'm looking forward to fixing it up and seeing her riding it alongside me.   Smiley

edit - picture!  I'll take more once it's cleaned up some

Welcome to the newbs  Grin

As mentioned time and time again, if you've got a question just ask and someone should be able to give you a hand. (Most "how do I?" type questions belong in the Rubber Side Down portion of the site.)

IIRC we have several people in TX that ride, just have to figure out who it is again  Embarrassed

Hi There Peeps,

I have just started getting back into motorbikes after having a few years off from riding them previous bikes inc, Buell X1 lightning and Ducati Monster along with a miriad of sports bikes Smiley

I saw this 97 savage that had some mods on it and decided that it was just the right sort of thing to ease me back into things.

Its my first savage and I must say being a little machine this thing sounds the bizz (it has a supertrap exhaust) its easy to ride and light. I can see me having many happy times on it I'll post a picture of the beast when i have time to get one sorted if anyones interested.

This is me, I've had my 2009 for a week, and I've put about 100 miles on her so far. I'm waiting for the windshield and saddlebags to be installed, and eventually looking to change the handlebars to 2004 style.

I have the magenta two tone S40. We've parked the bike in front the deck and had our coffee in the morning watching it change colors. I know...it's weird.

Great picture too!
Please post more when you get the saddlebags, etc installed. I'm curious what that will look like - I'm thinking of the nylon type bags just on the passenger seat. Have WindVest shield coming soon, they are altering it to fit.

Answering to J2. I am 65-yr-old retired b/c journalist, now tech writer in an IT shop. Bought an 06 S40 about a month ago. Lovin it. Started riding in 1965, all light bikes (favorite was Honda 400-4 ... crossed several states on that smooooth machine). I commute on a 150cc scooter, which can get up to 80 mpg and can top out at 60 mph. I have been riding the S40 to work. Love the zoom zoom, but only getting 50 mpg. But it's a great bike ... great horse power-to-weight ratio. Thanks for the forum. I will try not to get wordy, but that's what I do for a living.
