Almost Brand New (to Riding)

Hi folks,
I got an 87 savage a couple of years ago stuck (buried) it in the shed.  I traded a school bus for it!  I got it out a couple of weeks ago and started working on it.  "Took the riders class about a year ago."  Been riding it almost every day.  Its been 30 years! Grin

Welcome. You can have lot of fun with that little bike. You can do a lot with a school bus, too, but the MPG stinks & riding is better than driving.

Was it a well kept '87? I recently aquired an '87 that was stored for 3 years and I've had nothing but problems with it. Haven't even ridden it yet. It needs a starter and a battery, to start with. Don't even know if the dam thing runs.  I hope you have better luck with yours.
And welcome--you'll find this is a great group of guys and gals. Very helpful in every aspect. Enjoy!!

I have been riding every day!  The guy I got it from was a "good" shade tree mechanic! I had to do a lot of soldering on the light wires.  Need some parts for it like the battery has no cover, its exposed.  The charging system seeems to work.  Had to put a new battery in it! (When I pulled it out of the shed) She started right up.  Yes I changed the oil but after I found some filters! Roll Eyes I don't know about the color but Rustolium Industrial Safety yellow is a dam good match.  I am thinking about changing all of the screws to ss!
