Carb Issues

2001 suzuki savage.

Harley Exhaust.

I changed the Main to a 152.5, and the pilot i think is 55 or possibly 52.5.

when the bike is cold it runs great.  when i get it on the highway, and then slow down at a stoplight, it starts to blow FLAMES!  I can actually see blue/yellow flames.

Since it's only at idle when this happens i think i should get a smaller pilot jet?  is this the correct idea?

all i know is that today it stalled 5 times when coming to a stoplight, and was a biotch to get started.

any help is appreciated

Yey, try going back down to the 52.5 pilot and then readjust the pilot air screw.  Then see what what happens during normal riding.

the pilot is easy enough to change and adjust the mixture - another possibility is a dirty sticking slide - did you have the carb apart to work over the white spacer - it doesn't  take much to make these slides stick - couple of greasy finger printsis liable to do it.

the pilot was a 52.5 and the main was a 152.5.

I changed the pilot to a 50 and the main to 145.

i put it all back together, and i still cannot get it to run soot free.  do you think any exhaust leaks could be causing an issue?

so i go with a smaller pilot jet?  what would be the next size down to lean it all out?
