A "Savage Indian"?
07/04/07 at 10:31:53

Ever since I started riding motorcycles in the late 60's I have wanted an Indian Motorcycle.  I can only afford a 2005 S40, which is really a Savage.  Why not a "Savage Indian"  I am interested in your thoughts and/or opinions before I go public.  Thanks!

I can't see much detail in the pic.  You might have posted a thumbnail instead of the full pic.
But I like the idea of a Savage Indian bike.  Not very PC though...

My bagger has a full front fender with an Indian Head light ala Indian motorcycles. I believe that one could put about any brand name and product name on our savages and 90% of those who looked wouldn't know the difference. Max

8) Great stuff b'ys! It seems that our LS650's fool even supposed "knowledgeable" Bikers ... mine was mistaken for a Harley just a few days ago by a guy wearin' an RC patch and loud-mouthin' like Foghorn Leghorn!

Yeah, I got to looking at the Kawasaki Vulcan "Drifter" Indian clones in the 800cc and 1500cc varieties and still might consider one. My main concern is that I might drag the floorboards on one. I was worried about them being small like the Savage, but I stopped a guy in his driveway as he was getting off his, and he was nice enough to let me check it out. Let me sit on it too, and I realized he was bigger than me, and when I'd seen him on the street on it, he didn't dwarf the bike or anything. They're beautiful:

I had a black one scoped out in Denver for $3500 but just can't afford that right now. I have a spare Savage, so yeah, I have considered a Savage/Indian. I could be done!

Here's a decal that would give you a good start:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawasaki-DRIFTER-TANK-DECAL-indian-head-vn-800...

I've shopped fenders, and they aren't gonna come cheap.

However, I think I've got a line on a cheap big azz solo seat!

Hey Markrider... If you don't mind my asking, what muffler is that on your Savage? Would it happen to be the "Dunstall" replica from JC Whitney? How you like it, and how's it sound?
TIA, John

Look closely at the picture....looks like "The Trap" logo on the last 6".  I think it is a super trap with the reverse cone cap.  I was considering one of those but at this point I plan to go with custom stainless job out of Ohio.

For a while I had a BSA Goldstar  decal on mine. Just to be fair there was an AJS on the other side.http://w2.bikepics.com/pics/2007/02/18/bikepics-806140-800.jpg

Hi everyone,
As per the question, I installed a Supertrapp with 8 discs, solid stainless steel endcap-I plan to add 4 more discs and check the jetting again.  Shocks are Hagon Shocks from Dave Quinn Motorcycles these shocks improved the handling, front end has a Superbrace which helped but the biggest handling improvement came from Dave Quinn Motorcycles- Hagon Progressive Fork Springs-what a difference in the ride!  Apparently these springs are a common upgrade item in Britan but they have to be imported to the USA-Dave Quinn was able to get them for me.

Thanks, if it hadn't been for that shiny reflection at the end of the muffler in the first picture, I would have identified it as an ST on sight; but I couldn't see the disk end, so my imagination took over.

No doubt. If you look at the pics of it on the site... the whole form is clean, uncluttered, and understated. That's class.
