Rubber on risers?
07/02/07 at 12:33:51

Has anyone put rubber on the riser around the handlebars to help reduce vibration?

i just came back from about a 800 mile trip over 2 days and I've got sweet spots at 51, 57, 59 and 61 MPH indicated w/o any noticeable vibration. I do have rubber insert grips but that was mostly for their larger diameter to help prevent some hand cramp concerns I have. If you have vibrations in my opinion you need to review your wheel balance and roundness, loose bolts on the egnine mounting points, fluid qualtity and quantity in the front forks as when they are right it is a pretty smooth ride. Might help.
I'd be concerned about the bars being anchored sufficiently.
On the flat bars probably not so much as the older style.

I just don't know. Is this a mod you heard/read on another type of bike?

These look interesting:

Anyone with any experience with stuff like this?
Or, will I soon be like Phelonius..... Smiley
You know, ONE with your bike. Grin
It doesn't bother me that much but, I'm awfully "tinglely" (Is that a word?)
after a while........

If you have stock bars then they are already weighted.
And you won't be able to add these weights.

If your bars aren't weighted and the grips allow, these will add the needed weight to your bars by sucking it out of your back pocket.

Others have suggested lead pellets in the bars.  But you'll need to cap the bar ends securely.  I haven't found any bar ends for 1" bars in the $10-20 range.  The pellets will do a better job at killing the vibes then the bar end weights like dead blow hammers that don't bounce.

Quite  a few bikes have a rubber bushing on the riser. Gloves help, but I'd really like to stop my mirrors from dancing so much.

Actually, the stock "clamps" on my 98 had plastic/rubber bushings and I reused them with my pullback risers.
