It Is Alive!

Well, I finally finished the wifes Savage. It's a 96 and was a total basket case when bought. It had been rattle can painted green and was covered in rust and corrosion...sat outside near the beach in Florida. I disassembled the engine and replaced all the gaskets, cleaned out and rebuilt the carb, bead blasted the engine covers and installed one of the take off mufflers from my Harley. The wife liked the original yellow color so we repainted it to somewhat match the original 96 color. I've still got to put a new front tire on it though. But all in all we're pleased on how it came out.

first off, welcome. i dont think i've seen you post here before.
excellent job! our '96 is origional in yellow, and we love it! the dyna is way more my speed, i ride an '84 fxrp, debby actually rides a '97 roadking now, but we still have the savage for our daughters and my dad. enjoy the rides!
there are several couples on this board that are riding HD and savage, they seem to be a natural combination.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. The wife is really excited about her "new" bike. It has been a total transformation. She eventually wants a Harley but want's to start out on something a little easier to ride and see if see really wants to stick with riding...time will tell. I'll try and see if I have any before pics to show the transformation...it really looks to be a different machine now. It is quite fun to ride but I haven't yet had it out of the subdivision, just got tags for it today. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I can open it up a little, haven't had it over 30 yet. I've still got to install the front tire and finish the tool box, I forgot to order the little hook that the lock latches to. I've also got a Sportster seat to go on it too. If anyone has an extra "hook"let me know, it's #22 on the fische (Frame Side Cover).
