S/trapp includes in their installation instyructions directions for Cleaning & polishing the NEW exhaust, else it will discolor. Did you clean it of the manufacturing oils? Ive posted this no fewer than 3 times in the [past.

yes, it was cleaned.

The area in question is at the clamp.  And it is hot (240°C or hotter) enough to melt the jacket on the brake light cable.

Yikes, Dude, so you are litteraly having a meltdown? When ya park, the heat is so great it's melting that rubber? Man, I havent looked to see what your carb is set up like, but richer might be in your future. Mine is bluing at the small end some.but my rubber sleeve doesnt seem affected at all.

I had the stock 145 in there when I first put the super on.  Blueing at the small end right away.

About a week later put in a 150 and 3 disks.  Blueing seems to be getting worse.

Seriously, if its melting that rubber that far away, somethng is way too hot. Is it possible somethng got on it to attack the rubber? I have no idea what could do it, just asking.

I had the same thing happen and found I had an exhaust leak that directed the exhaust blast that way, mine got the covering on the brake light switch, but I took off and lubed it ans managed to make t last 3 more years before I installed the new one I had in the drawer.  Max

I hope thats it, cuz that rubber is really quite a ways from the pipe. If theres no leak & its that hot, man, that dude is scorching! G'luck, Ver.

I had a chance to check it closely after I met up with steverocket and looked at his.  We both had the same blueing.

His was leaking a bit, definite carbon trails at the slits.

Mine however is not.  I probably don't even need a clamp it's so tight.
