Great, Welcome. I just picked up my white one too last night. I rode it home though. What a blast. I was going to go straight home to do the carb thing. It's about 7miles. Got home finally with 64 miles. Smiley

I got my new maroon 97 Savage started up today for the first time. I bought it as a "damaged repairable" from Cheshire Motorcyle Salvage in the UK.

I bought a black 94 Savage a few weeks ago through ebay but it turned out to be a lemon - had run out of oil and the top end was wrecked. I used it for parts for the maroon 97.

I have had to fix up/swap over..
- right footpeg/brake lever assembly
- front and rear turn signals
- rear foot peg
- rear seat pad
- exhaust

First work ever done on a bike Smiley

Plus I had to strip out an immobiliser that I didn't have a key for on the new bike but apart from that it's all gone remarkably well. Still waiting for the DVLA docs (title) to arrive so I can get it legal....

But those 20 miles around country lanes that I just completed a few minutes ago were magic!!!!

It's been 20 years since my last bike, and I'm in love...

Welcome to the site, bro... and congratulations on the new bike!  Get that license endorsement and let's do some riding!  Okay, now I've taken a short ride on a brand spanking new 2007 LS650 and I can give you my impressions.  The feel of the risers and the stock bars is really very comfortable.  I had figured the narrower drag bars would be less comfortable but they're not at all.  If I used 'em I'd want mirror extensions though.  I seem to be just a tad too wide to adjust them for the view I want.  Speaking of the mirrors, I really like the 2007 mirrors much better than my stock 98's.  The pearl white paint looks just as sweet as when they introduced it a few years ago.  I was interested to note that the side panel emblems are solid badges like the S40's tank badge - not stickers like my 98 had.  The blackening on the cylinder head I've seen in others' pics online is very nice in person.  Someday, during an overhaul, I may have mine powder coated black.  I really like that look.  And folks, it's still a Savage.  I don't care what Suzuki calls it now.
