Tech Sect ideas ?
06/15/07 at 10:00:42

Hey all,

Anyone have suggestions for articles in the tech sect?

I've got a few:

porting & polishing the head
better rear suspension (progressive)
Pistons & cams
metal polishing
different forks (by lancer?)
doing a good job spray painting (since most of us are cheap skates)
sprung seat setup
how to diagnose a carb
handlebar swap?
how to strut the savage

others?

Take a look at the ozzy chopper forum.  Some really good stuff.  http://www.ozchopperriders.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=29

You might consider having fiche like the german site.
We could cross referenece all the detail for each part like part number, size, installation torque, etc.  and cross ref'd by year.

A trouble shooting chart would be nice.

I've got a bit of knowledge stored up, and i'd be happy to contribute, if we wanna split up some of the ideas and get different folks to write up how to's.  I've had the whole darn bike apart and back together 3 times in the last month so most things are pretty fresh.  Just let me know if there is anything we need written up!

I had promised a member here that I would post an aluminum polishing. I dropped the ball on it though. I may be able to get step by step pics up this weekend.

I'll do the rattlecan, if no one else is on it.  I mentioned doing one before.  Glenn needs a fun paint job after the graffiti project.

step by step cam chain replacement with the new mods that people here have utilized. I was thinking along the lines that point out the little tricks that the people here have really done.  There are a lot of interesting threads but I haven't seen one that is simple to follow. Maybe it's just for mechanically challenged but I suspect there are a few of us.

Could use some good input on how to build some power in the 45 HP range. IE What works and what doesn't, and what are the known weak areas in the engine if modest power is added? - Thanks

While you're at it...
A section for FAQ, like
http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=RubberSideDown;action=display;n...

There's some particularly good input and of course every rider needs to spin it for himself.

But maybe a pro's and con's type compilation of the many threads will lesson the repeats.  And give rise some really thought provoking questions.
