Badging Removal...
06/13/07 at 07:41:05

I want to remove the "Boulevard" badge from the tank and the "S40" from the side cover on my 2005. Are these badges just stuck on with adhesive? Anybody tried this with success? I figured I would just use a hairdryer and some fishing line to get them off and then use some "Goof Off" to remove the residual sticky stuff. Finally, a nice coat of wax to polish the spot off and shine it up.

I first removed the decals from my side covers of my 2000 Savage. Came off without any problems.  A little Goo gone, and they looked great.  Then went at the tank decal with the hair dryer.  A quarter inch of peeling the Savage decal away, and I realized it had been clear coated over.  Not good.
Anyway, now I've got a different decal on the tank to kind of hide where the old decal was.  So there will be complications if they clear coat over the Boulevard decal.

I think I am in luck. The 2005 "Boulevard"' on the tank is actually a raised Badge and not a decal. I am hoping that it is just "stuck" on and will peel off w no problems. I will probably take pics and post the results when I am done. I hope I don't get into trouble..... Shocked

I think the Boulevard badges are plastic pieces and not decals like those on the Savages.  I haven't looked at one in person though, so I can't say for sure.

Try Dental floss, works pretty good.

That way you won't break your badge if you need to put it back on again

You know how highly sought after these badges are by the Harley Guys LOL

Cheers

Please post photos and method that works when you are done because i am thinking about doing the same thing.
the stick-out-boulevard tank thingy has never impressed me, and the S40 gets me crap from other bikers.

I posted up the Badging removal process step-by-step yesterday with pics. Looks like it was moved to the Tech section if anyone wants to see it.

Well...."WHAT the heck is THAT?!" "What does S40 stand for?" "That isn't/can't be an LS650 because it says right on there it is an S40 which means what? A slower bike?" "What is a 'boulevard' and that can't be an LS650 because it says boulevard right on it".

JM&J - cut me a break!
