suzuki muffler Q's

Ok everyone, I have been riding my new 1997 savage for a little while now and I can't handle to sound of the stock muffler. I looked in the tips and tricks section of the website and on the second page is a topic titled " savage sounds." I listened to all of them and the only one I liked is labeled "stock #2" does anyone know what this is? I it the stock exhaust with the inside taken out? If not can I just rip out the inside of the muffler? any info would be appreciated, thanks.

when i first listened to those sounds i thought that the "stock #2" sounded good too. i never tried to figure out what it was so instead i got a jardine and if youre not afraid of a loud bike you should get one too. WOO!

I'm really happy with my sporster muffle. Not TOO loud but alot louder than stock. Mine used to sound like a sewing machine before I changed mufflers

But has anyone dealt with just taking apart the stock muffler. I like super loud vehicles. I have a custom chevy pickup with headers and straight pipe, and a jet boat with a hopped up 454 with open headers. This bike is killing me. I want the loudest most obnoxious sound I can find

I'd bet the HD SE pipe would be a good start - and if louder is need cut out the one washer in the middle that is the baffle

When i bought my 02 it had the stock muffler with 3 3/8 inch holes drilled in the end.

It sounded like a VERY loud sewing machine.

Least expensive loud muffler would be a sporty or a dyna slashcut. I'm using a sporty with a 3/8 hole drilled thru the internal baffle and like the sound. I put on a dyna slashcut for a weekend but it was too loud. If you want to be loud go for a dyna slashcut, probably the best bang for the buck.

Hey Ed. Where did you drill that hole in the baffle at? Towards the outlet or down inside as far as the bit would travel down inside? Did it really make that much of a difference? and finally...do you like the results?
