as far as i know, externally the engines are the same. as i recall they swap between bikes, with a minor bit of wiring change, so the the top end should be a bolt-on. i bought a whole '97 engine from the classifieds on this forum, there is always something being parted out. 4spd or 5spd, i guess you run what you got.

The mechanics of it will all bolt right up & go I do believe. The ignition may require a bit of massaging.You will have a little taller final gear ratio & that's a good thing. You won't be getting to shift as much, tho, & thats a drag! Looks like you will be on the road soon,, cool!
