My Savage has a nice highway bar with O-ring pegs, but looking at it lately I realized the nuts and bolts holding it all together were beyond polishing and looking a bit ugly. I recently was in an ACE hardware and lo and behold they have a bunch of chrome nuts, bolts, washers in both SAE and Metric sizes, even hex stuff.
4 bolts, 2 locknuts, 2 lock washers, 6 flat washers, 2 acorn nuts, and 1 u bolt (they didn't have this one in chrome unfortunately). Pretty soon I remounted an almost brand new looking foot rest. The total price for the chrome bits came to about $16 which I don't think is too bad, I doubt I could do better at some stealership. A good day to work on the bike as thunderstorms rolled through all day.
