Helmet lock.

Just got back from a ride and noticed that helmet lock thingy has fallen off somewhere... Huh, some security device.
I check a lot of things before riding for tightness, but never thought to check that. ???

If you had kept the helmet in the lock, you would have noticed when it fell off and bounced down the road. Grin

Dumb and Dumber
You put your helmet there when you ride? I thought that was  only when parked. Doesn't it slap around? Do you put the D-ring through the lock? Was always a big hassle, I thought it was worthless. Am I missing something?

He was just kidding. Riding with a helmet in the lock is a bad idea. The manual states it is not to be done. Yea, the helmet is gonna take a beating from the tire.

yeah, you're missing that it was a joke.

See, if they'd just left the screw loose, they coulda kept the lock attached to the helmet and then when they parked, just screwed it onto the bike and locked the helmet as per the norm.   Far more secure.

When and if you replace that helmet lock - make sure to use locktite blue - the permanent stuff on the threads - I went through the same issue when I had only had my Savage for a couple of weeks but with the locktite - no more problems!

If you ever put on saddlebags, here's something to think about, too.

Hmm, you relocated your ignition key switch.  Interesting...  I have my alarm in that area currently.

I stripped and rewired the harness again.  I cut off the mount for the ignition key and repainted it.

The only visible wiring behind the carb, comes up from the alternator and goes back to the rear fender.  All the rest is under the tank.

With that setup all keys work in the same place.
