I can always do the plug read, WOT after warmed up, hit the kill & shut down? Is that the deal?

Yes that's the deal. Let it cool off a bit before pulling the plug. You want the ceramic under the electrode to be chocolate brown. White is too lean.

Thanx, Bob, I'll pay extra close attention when I do the main. Anyone else think I am flirting with disaster going to 152.5 using 14 baffles? I can always do the plug read, WOT after warmed up, hit the kill & shut down? Is that the deal?

use a new plug (or 3 or 4) to do it - champions are like $1.50 - cheap to play with

Justin,
Just for grins, how are you calculating your mpg? Second question have you checked your the accuracy of your odometer? This sounds like something more than a rich condition. It would seem to me that if you were that rich black smoke would be blowing from the tailpipe, and the bike would run like garbage.

Well, When I gas up I look at the odometer. On those rare occasions I can remember the last mileage. Miles run divided by gallons.I used to get 55 when it was new. I have watche d it deteriorate for so long, When I get 70 miles & iit hits reserve, thats not cool,
I am gonna get the champions, sounds way cheap..
I will also be checking compression. What should I expect?

but but,,,wasn't the throttle hand a little lighter also when it was new - how about a test - fill it up - get it in 5th and go ride a steady 55 mph for like 30 miles - turn around and come back to the gas station - what did you get?

Hmmm, that IS kinda telling, isn't it? Still,, 35 MPG? I am wondering if I gotr the spacer in right. Can I have put it in so it's like I took the whole thing out? Can I put it on the wrong side of the diaphragm & make it move the needle that far out of the jet? ( OHH, BTW, that 152.5 jet I've ben waiting on? ALMOST got hjere today, The envelop was torn & empty!!  :'(
Has 3 red stamps on it from the Post Office. Says  Received without contents at 75644   Received in damaged condition   Received unsealed at 75644..

I think one woulda done it. I wonder if they are aware THEY unsealed it & LOST the ding dang jet I been waitin on?? AAARRRGGHHH! Anyone else got a 152.5 they don't need? Crummeee deal Dr.Jim. Man,, bunner all the way around. I guess one O those bubble envelopes is what it needed. I woulda done the same thing. "Im gonna send ya a couple O bux, just so you dont totally get the shaft. We can share the loss..

68.5 miles. 1.8 gallons. I even got passed byt an Old Woman in a Caddy! If I will ride like an old woman, I might get low 40's MPG,, not okay. I rode as easy as I coul;d stand as far as I could stand it. I even looked in the mirror when I got to 50 & the cars werent that far back, leavin a light, Didnt wind it out before zI shifted. Now, I did find it necessary to play some in the turns, BUT after I filled up I plated in one & drug the left peg nearly all the way thru it & FInally, dfidnt change my line when the peg touched down. I feel pretty certain thers something amiss, its not justme riding that hard, cuz I lighten up some & see no appreciable change.

Reel, What plug do I want? I can get 6 for next to Nothing. I might be able to save the cost in saved fuel real quick. Also,, just exactly what do I do to make best use of those plugs? Anyone?

Justin, that's only 38 mpg.  That's horrible!  I hesitate to even suggest this, BUT.......

Take out your 155 main and put the in the 150.  Ride it for a week and report back...  I'd like too see if the 150 even effects your mileage.

Are you loosing gas out of a leaky gas cap?  I got 38 mpg on a bike once....that was for doing a sustained 115 mph!

The very epitome of "Suckaciousness" I am surprised it doesnt just suck the tank flat as fast is it's drinikin gas..  GrinOh, I I am perfectly comfortable the odometer is at least close. I am at the station very regularly. I'll go back to the 150, unless I discover Ive commited a mistake woth the whire spacer. I may have installed it wrong somehow,, Can that even be done? Other than the spacer, is there an internal; passage that can be partially obstructed thatcan cause a low MPG situation? I can imagine any GOOO doing it, but I did crack one ear off the pilot jet & never found it. Maybe its in there somewhere pluggin something?

There was a moment when I was getting pretty much the sam MPG. I had Qwik Silver 38, no air box door and open HD fishtail. The bike was getting up to 100mph with semi-apes, BUT the mpg was BAAAD. Even with low speeds/around 55/, I could not get more than 40mpg.
The only good thing was that even if I kept 75-80/ no mercy /, the mpg never droped below 33mpg.

Here's a list of the plugs that fit - that champion RA6HC
is what I used -
http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=tech;action=display;num=1107534689

there's a post around some place with a link to a pretty good write up - with pictures of the plug but I can't find it

Thanks for the plug type, now I just need a clue as to what to do.
