justin_o_guy Ex Member	Re: adjusting valves Reply #1 - 05/01/07 at 01:35:58 Does it turn over? Did you possibly adjust the valves with the thing at TDC exhaust instead of TDC compression? You sure you got the plug under the tank hooked up right? Did you accidently hit the kill switch ?

Calm down JD....step by step process yanno...if it ran before you adjusted the valves, then it means something was overlooked.

Just chill out, take a breather, and go back to square one.....just do it slowly, and make sure the piston is at TDCC as stated previously.

One question (might help solve this)..what were the clearances BEFORE you adjusted them ?

okay, good that it starts! Iw as about to start posting things to check...

if it is noisy as hell, I bet you set it to TDC on the exhaust stroke, not the compression stroke. I did this once too, very noisy. However, that should not casue the starting problem (hard starting maybe).

see the link at the bottom of my post for getting TDC on the correct stroke.

Well I'm glad you got it fixed JD.

I just adjusted my valves yesterday and noticed significantly more torque all the way through the power band. but I would like to know if adjusting the valves change the exhuast note cuz that is what i got. just wondering weather or not an exhuast gasket is leaking. any input would be appreciated
