I would say cheapest way to do it is to do it yourself - I did mine & I'm by no means mechanically inclined. recommend you get a K & N slot in replacement air filter (about $50, maybe less) @ same time for improved "breathing in", go to tech part of site & scroll down (I can't find stuff doing search funtion on here) until you get part on modifying bike for the hd muffler for detailed help - get local muffler shop to fabricate a connector piece between muffler & header pipe - my local place ddid mine for free, some charge maybe $10 (have them put a 10 degree bend in it.)

don't go dyna way - jets are cheap. depending on altitiude you are @ & muffler you use you can get lots of help from site on range of jets to go with & what to do about the white spacer (some shave/sand it down some replace it with washers). replace the crappy screws top & bottom in the carb with bunch of stainless steel allen ones (may have to use vice grips on heads of current ones if you screw up heads undoing them to get @ jets & spacer.

you can get a longer heat shield to hide muffler connecting piece from either jcwhitney or some other place online (ask for where via this site). I got mine  from shop in town that works on hds but is not a hd dealer - they had a box of them to chose from for $5.

use HD clamps (around $5-10 each) to clamp connecting piece to muffler/header pipe & use some hi temp permatex (I used copper permatex) for seal. do not run bike for 24 hours after doing this to get a good seal.

might have to use a piece of metal stock to line up the muffler to the connecting place on Savage.

some hd stores (not one in my town) sell cast off hd pipes cheap (like $20 or so) where people have upgraded their bikes (a lot on site use sportster ones) - I use a pipe I bought from Lancer but many use hd ones & are happy with sound they make & performance improvement they deliver.

lastly follow Lancers simple carb tune up (again in tech part of site) to get carb in fine tune.

this may all sound like a lot to do but as long as you have a basic tool set you can do it yourself easily. a dealer will charge you a lot for what is really a very satisfying task.
