snap crackle pop

Out for a run today and noticed a crackling noise around 50 mph,it seemed like it was coming from the left side, and something new ,every time I come into the garage after a run I switch off and a second later a very pretty blue flame goes woosh out the exaust, and for the first time with this bike (02) my muffler is turning blue, the header is still clear and bright chrome ???
Any ideas gents?

it sounds like you went lean. simple stuff first, air box door tight? air filter tight? air box hose tight? carb clamp tight? vacuum hose to petthingy tight/not cracked?

sure it wasn't the engine cooling?

lean = hot = more nosie when cooling...

Remind us what engine/exhaust/carb mods you've made... miles?

My Trapp started bluing just behind the Header/Trapp junction, clamp was loose. Maybe, if your exhaust is bluing close to the clamp, that's what's going on?

So I tightend up the pipe / muffler connection, still the noise at around 50 mph ?
Next day (today) I was doing about 50 and the noise popped up again,to try and get closer to the noise I looked down at the pipe and the noise stopped, lifted my head and the noise started, had a look down at the left side and the noise stopped again, now I have a clue,
so I scrunch down behild wind shield and the noise stopped again,I pulled over and took 30 seconds to fix it ,problem solved, and boy do I feel stupid.
It was the the little viser on my helmet the stud in the middle of three had come undone and the viser was vibrating against the the helmet, I guess at the lower speed it wouldn't move ,over fifty it would just stay up,
it was the magic 50pmh that it made a noise like snap crackle pop.

Grin  Don't feel bad, I had the same thing and it was my visor also.  I found out by others with the same type visor and flip up shield I have when I heard someone complaining about it.  If I had waited another day, I would have asked the same question.
