Cool. It looks like those are different. What one is on our bike Greg?

Easy process of deduction...remove yours and you'll know which one is stock Tongue

Rob is correct.  The stock one is 47.5 and the other with the extra holes is a 50.

Well I was not going to take it back out until I felt I had to or until I done the 1/2 spacer mod. I may do it Saturday since it is going to rain.

If you've never taken it out before, that may be a good idea.  Mine was so stuck it took an EZ-Out to remove it.  Suffice it to say it was not reusable once I finally got it out but I just put a #55 in and it worked great.

Let's say I'm fairly sure.  I think my stock pilot jet was a #52.5 and I upped it to a #55.  I'll check later today or tomorrow and let you know.  I'll have to find that carb first since I'm actually using an Amal now.

That seems to be the going rate for the pilot jet #55.

I am going to take mine out tonight or tomorrow and will let everyone know. The stealer will have to order it and hopefully that will get rid of the backfire I am getting. Is the 1/2 spacer mod supposed to do that also?

I filed mine down to about 66% of original thickness, put a 55 pilot and a 152.5 main. Now I only get some pop and crackle, no more POWs. Also have a Dyna muff and a K&N drop-in replacement air filter. Runs real nice this way at 5000 feet and hauling my 235 lb butt around.

Yeah, but wait...what does the Manual say is stock?  Your bike was used, right?

I'd check my manual, but its packed.  I'm pretty sure that it's supposed to be a 47.5.

Why is everyone changing it out so large?  After 7 years, I just changed mine to a 50, 3 weeks ago...No real reason.  I'm just curious how it will affect my bike.

Just looked at the Carb Specs posted in the Tech Documents section of this site.  The carb specs listed in Greg's post,  show that the stock pilot size is 52.5 from 1995 thru 2004 and 47.5 for earlier models.  These specs are also shown in my Suzuki manual.  I found the specs were incorect for the CA model I have.   My stock original 2003 CA model came with a 52.5 pilot and 145 main, the same as the other USA models.

BTW, I am thankful to all who post on this site.  I have learned a lot and incorporated many of the great ideas posted here.

Mine was a 52.5 and I changed it to a 55 because my adjustment screw is jammed in place.  Fortunately, that change made my mixture perfect.

Just fine tuned my carb hopefully for the last time! did a 55 pilot with a 155 main, 2 1/2 out on pilot. Have dyna muff, stock baffles removed with an 8 inch baffle from Jireh. baffle an inch or so from tail. going to tack weld it in. I shaved the white spacer only a little I mean a real little. sounds awesome backfire seems to be gone. seems alittle rich.
Q. should i take more off white spacer and turn Idle screw back in some to get rid of the richness

Well I think I am going to have to change mine. I will see what is in mine and go to a 52.5 or a 55. I put a 152.5 main in and it is a little off.

Go to the Technical Documents/Reference area and look for the white spacer and backfire page tells you the basics on that subject!  Did you adjust the idle screw?(hidden behind a brass plug on the right side of carb) How many turns out ? whats your altitude? Alot of guys in here can help but you got to give alittle more info.
