MissFire!
03/15/07 at 18:09:27

My bike has started to missfire at lower RPM.  It's definitely not a backfire.  When it happens I can feel the bike loose power for just a second and then pick back up.  It doesn't seem to do it on acceleration just under steady throttle, cruisin along.

Anyone had this happen of know what it might be?  Bike runs fine otherwise and has a new plug about 1000 miles ago.  A coil maybe or the plug wire?

sounds fuel related - maybe bad vac hose to the diaphram - carb issue maybe

and make sure your wire connections to coil are tight - i had one about to fall off the spade connector and it was acting simular

Or a temporairy interuption of electric power.
2 Easy things to check first
1) Is the sidestand up and not moving when you hit a bump, hold it up with a ty-rap
2) Check the negative connector on the battery and the connector on the small wire attached to it.

Depending on how pronounced it is, it could be a lean condition.  Does it slow and surge?  Or completely cut out...My bike does something like you mention at a steady 55mph, in my case it's a lean condition.

Ill check for those,  thanks.

Tend to think it is electrical or lean.  It is a little lean on idle from a leak in the hose from the airbox.  I have an edelbrock carb and a K&n drop in with a dyna muffler.  Its breathing pretty well, maybe too well.  Il let you knw how it goes.
