Hi all, I'm a new B and had a question.  Sorry if it's been asked and answered already, but I couldn't find anything that pertains.  I have a 2001 650 Savage.  It ran fine last fall.  Winterized and used Seafoam in the gas.  Fired it up for the first time this year, after charging the battery, and it has a huge hesitation/stumble on accelleration.  I replaced the spark plug and pulled the carb off to check the jets.  Nothing obvious.  Put all back together, does the same thing.  I can pull the choke out part way and seems to be a little better.  Any ideas?  Please Help!!!!!!!!!!

Drain the float bowl completely, and give her a try.  If that doesn't help, drain the float bowl and tank and replace fuel and try again.  Keep us posted.

Sometimes I do...on purpose.  It makes people think(myself included).

Now, get this...(and gosh we've been on this subject with all kinds of adverse results too)

...if dobbers, spiders, or errant children actually crawled up in the frame and filled BOTH tubes (coincidence?) then atmospheric pressure wouldn't be able to equalize in the float bowl as gas was sucked out....right?  

And if that happened wouldn't gas flow stop, because there would be no equalizing between the venturi action of the jets?  

Then you'd have the bowl full of gas, with the float valve closed and the engine can't suck out gas cause air can't go in...

I wasn't questioning you as much as the probability of all that happening during the winter when the dobbers and spiders are dead and little children are wearing mittens

I did check both vent tubes and they are clear.  I did not take the "Vacuum Pod" apart on the top of the carb.  I do have a mechanical background, I just am not versed in motorcycles.  Don't know if it makes any difference, but prior to putting the bike up, the float had stuck and caused fuel to leak from the vent tube.  I fixed the stuck float.  I was able to ride the bike after that and it seemed fine.  As far as how long it ran when I fisrt fired it up this year, I let it idle for approx. 5 minutes before trying to ride it.  The bike started right up and idled good after jump starting it.  Can't really think of anything else, other than the airfilter is new and I can't find any vacuum leaks.  Hope the additional information helps you all to help me.  Really don't want the "Stealer" to make a profit off me.
