Dynojet main jet is 144?
03/13/07 at 12:33:34

So when I re-jeted the carb I noticed that in there was a main jet that showed 145, and the jet that came with the kit is 144?  I know the nu,bers dont match up but does it seem correct?

Link to the dynojet PDF I'm talking about:

Mikuni vs DynoJet

most folks end up running a mikuni 155 or so on the main with an open pipe and good intake.  looks like the 144 DJ wil be about a  Mikuni 135... way too small...

That just wouldnt make any sense for them to ship it with a main jet that small would it?

Any Dynojet owners out there?

When I put the DJ kit into my original carb, I noted the jets were too small and picked up a few Mikuni jets at the local HD dealer for $3 each.  The only thing I found useful in the DJ kit was the adjustable needle.  I always advise against buying the kit unless you intend to use the dyno coupon inside.  That might make it worthwhile.

Thanks, I'll head to the suzuki dealer and pick up a 152.5 and throw that in before I fire her up for the first time since doing all the work...

Would that be a 52.5 for the pilot?

Personally, I'd prefer a slightly rich idle and slightly lean WOT.  My theory is that gives the best engine protection/cooling and MPG.  Thoughts?

I got a 55 pilot and a 157.5 main (thats all they had) at the dealership.  Thoughts on installing those tonight and firing her up?

That will be a bit rich with a stock Harley muffler (Dyna). It would be fine with a Screaming Eagle IMO.

Thought I'd jump in with a question...
My '06 is still as delivered... I picked up a HD muffler for it, baffles intact..
The air box is still installed, so far just going to go with the muffler.
Between getting rid of the factory 'pop' on decel, and installing the free-er flowing muffler, any suggestions about what size to get?
Do I need to do anything other than the main jet with only the muffler change?
Done a lot of hot rod car carbs, but first motorcycle carb I've done any mods to.

Thanks

the 157.5 will be a bit rich, but that should be okay.... just blacken the plug a little... you can run on rich jets for a while before you foul the plug, at least in my experience.  cary an extra plug and check out the "spark plug door method" in the tech sect...

kf6kmx, you'll prolly need to fiddle with the pilot circuit and needle shim as well...

Thanks. I'll start with the jet that size and see where i have to go from there.
I have THREE carb projects going now... my KZ750 that I'm changing the o-rings between the 4 carbs on the fuel rail, my KLR250 that wont idle (looks like a plugged jet) and my S40 that I'm going to make my first attempt and motorcycle jetting on to change the tailpipe... yike, suddenly I'm all in the carbs! hey, at least it aint crabs!  and I feel your pain...

I need to rejet my (Vroomette's) stock 98. I've been abusing it and turned the header all gold (yesterday).  it was definitly not that bad... and my 97 with the VM carb needs to have the gasket replaced, and possibly the needle valve too.  My V* 1100 has had the jets 1/2 size too big for 3 years now.  it's close enough, but... and that'll need to be balanced...

and the vm still needs to have teh pilot and needle height fiddled with....

carbs carbs everywhere!  Roll Eyes
