5 speeds in a 4 speed box?
03/13/07 at 09:18:23

Hi all, been away for quite a while, and it's nice to be back...

On the german eBay site I happened across a 5 speed box, used, for about ... $55...

I was wondering:
1) Is it technically feasible to fit a 5sp gearbox in the 4sp housing?
2) Given the labor fees, is it worth bothering with?
Or, is it really worth the money?

Cheers,
Maurizio

You cannot fit a 5 speed in a 4 speed engine.
The 5 speed has 2 gearshiftforkshafts and the 4 speed has only one: the casing of the 4 speed has no provisions for a second shaft......period.

Hey, I've been waiting to ask this one...

Are the primary drive gears interchangeable?
