Is a less expensive one going to run as far as a more expensive one? How many manufacturers are there for something like this? Anyone have a preference? I wonder if this is a place where cryogenics would lengthen the service life?

About the cryogenics- almost sure it will have positive effect, but about "bang for the buck" I don't know. It might be cheaper to put a new chain.
It is interesting that I have no cam chain noise in my '01 Savage with 22 000 mi , but my other '00 Savage with only 3700 miles has . One of the comming days I'll check what is going on.
