Flip-a-lever cruise control

Got a couple questions:
1. Does anybody have any experience with the "Flip-a-lever cruise control?

2. I am considering putting on the Küryakyn Iso grips (PN 6240)

I know some of you use them. Could somebody kindly give me the measurement from the chrome band to the throttle cable hold down?
The pictures on the Flip-a-lever site ("Off Position" and "On Position") illustrate the measurement I need.

Yah.. looked at those too.. and the option of mounting it "upside down":

The flip-a-lever looks less "intrusive" for lack of a better word.
Called the place, and the man says it will work ok on the Savage with stock or Iso grips. Ordered it in.. we shall see.

I suggest taking a 7/16 wrench on first test ride, and find a bumpy road. It needs to be tight enough to hold the throttle in the bumps, but loose enough to move manually while engaged. From the front: From the back: Watch out for tank clearance. Mine is ok:

You might like it, if what you mean by "palm style" is the Throttle Rocker.

This one and the Vista Cruise allow you to take your hand off completely.

Intrusive is a bit "subjective", for lack of a better word Tongue

Neither one actually intrude on the rider, but the appearance is definitely different. Vista Cruise has just been around for at least 15 years that I can remember. The Flip-a-Lever is newer.

I admit that I've planned to re-engineer the intrusive looking brace on the Vista Cruise, but it was the best thing going before this "new kid on the block" arrived Grin

The pictures show the "unlocked" position.
Locked is a 90 degree flip to the horizontal, and you can flip it either way.
You can also change the angle, it doesn't have to be left/right. It can be front/back or any angle. When you adjust the "grab", you are also changing the angle. So somewhere in 180 degrees there is going to be a place where the grab is what you need and the angle is what you like.
It is not extremely easy to reach with the right hand thumb to flip it on, but it can be done. I usually just reach over with my left hand. Flipping it off is easy enough with the right hand thumb or fingers.
I have heard that the Vista-cruise has the same issue.. reaching for the lever changes the throttle setting.. but it looks easier to reach to turn it on.

Greg is right about the "palm type". I looked at those as well. I had an issue with that style being in the way, and I wanted to be able to take my hand off the grip.

You could probably re-engineer flip-a-lever as well to make less "subjectively intrusive" Tongue

There is room for improvement.
Bend the mounting bracket.. or make a new one to follow the throttle housing. Shorten the barrel, trim the handle. I leave it to the experts. Looks good enough as is for me for now. .. maybe.... hmmmmm..

Greg is right about the "palm type". I looked at those as well. I had an issue with that style being in the way, and I wanted to be able to take my hand off the grip.

Honestly, the Vista Cruise lever is very easy to reach, On or Off, with your thumb. Not a problem at all. The biggest drawback is the support bar that goes across the controls, and the fact that the mirror needs to be moved over a little to make room for the clamp.

On my old Yamaha, I found a way to get rid of that bar and clamp, but haven't done that on this bike.

Youzguyz is right about being able to remove your hand. You never know when you might need to scratch or pick something Tongue
