cam tensioner and head cover gasket?
02/25/07 at 14:38:34

Is there a gasket for the head cover? I can't find it on ron ayers.  Also is there a way to change the cam tensioners and guides without removing the cam?

Last but not least, what is the best way to remove the lower sprocket that is bolted on top of the cam sprocket?

The big nut has to be removed.

Note:  LEFTHAND Thread

( Turn clockwise to undo)

Use an impact driver and block the gears ( clutch and primary drive sprocket ) with some pennys.

No.

Do you have a manual?  Have you ever done this kind of thing before?

Yeah.  I used a handy scrap of aluminum the other day.

Yeah, tons, but on cars that had a whole on the sprocket or something to wedge with a big screwdriver. I just hadn't done it with this bike and I had already took out the clutch basket. so i am going to reinstall and try the penny method.

I got the tensioner out, but haven't had the time to figure out the back guide, yet.

I was really glad i ripped it apart, the tensioner was at 20mm, or the last ratchet tooth. And, when i got in there the clutch basket nut wasn't on at all, it was just floating around behind the springs. I got reeeaaallly lucky with that one. I haven't got a clue as to what happened, I torqued it to spec when i did the clutch a little over a year ago.  ???

I must have missed something somewhere, And I feel like an ass none the less.

DAMMM.  What about the lock washer?  The one you  bend up against the nut?  Where was it?
