I'll check when I go out to the garage, but I thought there was a number on the switch.

Maybe the VIN number will help too.

It used to be if you had the number from the switch and from the key you could get a new one at a Suzuki dealer.  Don't know if that is still true.

same thing happened to me. Take off the switch one screw i think and take it to a locksmith. On mine there was a number that the smith used. 10min 2 new keys, no more bad day.

Some 'locksmiths' can 'pick' the lock and then know what tumbler numbers it has, and how to cut a key for almost any lock with a hand held key cutter. See if you have a locksmith with those skills locally. Our local guy is nicknamed "picky." Kinda wonder where he got a nick like that Wink

Give him 10 minutes and $25 and he'll make you two new keys. No need to remove the lock, he comes to you. There are other 'unlocking' services around that will try and charge $75-$100 for a call! If those guys are all you have around, you may be better off removing and taking the lock into a regular locksmith shop.

I got the problem fixed, went to Advance atuo parts today picked up a unversial starter switch with 4 keys, wired it up like normal ignition and it worked perfectly, even took care of the taillight not working. I feel the igniton switch might have went bad for the power to the tail light. (Also none of the local locksmiths could make a key to work and stealership wanted $8 per blank before cutting.)

Cool, solved the tail light problem. I wonder if you would have had to replace the starter switch to solve that? If so, then how cool was that?

Used to be, and "way back when"...but I don't see any numbers on this here swtich.

So how does a dealer know which switch you have?  VIN number?

I got a little strip O plastic with my keys that has a code on it. I suppose if I can still find it when I need a key made I will be in business. I expect that if I ever find myself with only 1 key i will have a spare made. I never know when I might lose one. I have lost important things before.
