Nut/Bolt Assembly for Chrome Rails
02/22/07 at 19:21:07

I've been using the site for guidance and ideas for about a year now. Last summer I took the MSF class, got my license and bought a slightly used 2003 Savage.
I'm hooked! Tried to start it the other day and realized the battery was low.
While removing the battery to charge it, I also had to remove the saddebags.
I really like the look of the bike without the saddlebags, but I dont have the hardware to replace the saddlebag bolts. I want to pick up 4 chrome nuts and the proper bolts.
I checked the parts fiche at Ron Ayres and a few other spots on the web, but can't find them.  Any ideas?

Try this at Ron Ayers.

The saddle bag supports mount with the same bolts.

What stopped ya. Besides, February. Been decent weather up until recently.
Welcome to the group. I have received plenty of good information here. And most times I don't need to get second opinions, there already here.
I did it the other way around, got an 02, then went scrambling to find a MSF course in Harrisburg. I agree can't wait to get some serious rides in. Big Bike Sh ow in Timonium MD usually early in the season. Maybe next month. I hear it's a biggie for east coast. I need to find out when.
Ride Well and Safe. Time to get all the pre-season Lube and What-if's adjusted.

BTW.... Mid Atlantic Motorcycle Show was FEB 9-11 th. I knew it was early.

Hey-
Thank you to everyone who helped me with this topic, especially smokin_blue.
Everyone on this site is great. It's nice to know that the newbies can get tech help without being criticized or being taken advantage of at a dealership.
Ride on folks!

Parts is parts, & I have been seen at the locan "nut & Bolt shop" aquiring such as I need for the bike. It's under Bolts & Nuts in the Yellow pages. Give them a call,, Stainless or chrome acorn nuts aren't the strict purview of bike shops.

My local ACE hardware also has chrome but they have a larger selection of SAE than metric.  Their metric is not bad though.  They'll order anything else.  I usually just use stainless instead.  It's cheaper and they have a larger selection.
