First off, a friend of mine has a bike with a center stand. He uses it all the time for general maintenance or just basic cleanings. I love its function! Do the make and after market or is it possible to add this to a S40 or Savage?

Would be really nice and could be done with a little welding and fab work.

The part that I'd be curious about is the "center" of the bike. One thing that I've noticed when jacking the Savage is that the bike is lighter towards the front. Jacking the bike with a frame mounted stand might bring the front wheel up and not the rear.

I think that's why so many people end up raising the bike with a jack under the muffler bracket rather than the engine part of the frame.

Didn't the older Beamers do that, too?

The center stand framing will make this bike heavier. I bought my bike because I didn't have to deal with with all the weight. Light weight is one of the biggest advantages of the Savage.

Naw, I kept it like it is. A V-shape would make the tires sit at different elevations off the floor, so I just left it. I have the bike standing in it right now...while taking the clutch out Shocked

Unfortunately, every product has some kind of drawback over an OEM center stand.

Doesn't this stand require 2 people to get it up (no pun intended)? But it is lighter than a jack.

A bike jack is heavy and, of course, you can't take it with you. But it is good for cleaning and waxing.

Even my wooden one only allows you to work on one end at a time because of the straps.

But the OEM stand was around on my first one, and it's pretty hard to beat. Just a shame they don't make 'em standard anymore.
