My savage has no spark.Was running then stopped.I bought a new coil & installed it.Still no spark. ???
How do I test the magneto for windings still unbroken &/or the spark sensor unit.The motor turns over fine.
I have a multimeter & not afraid to use it but need guide as to voltage/amperage values that I would be chasing.This bike sat in my shed for a lot of years before being rebuilt.

So that means the side stand/clutch switches work) Check for 12V on the O/B wire at the regulator with the key ON. Check the kill switch, too. Got a manual? You may need a schematic.

I have 0 volts at the regulator o/b wire so that would appear to be the problem. Cheesy

That's interesting. The O/B wire comes from the ignition switch, but it also feeds the horn and turn signals

And you've checked all connectors and cables to make sure nothing is worn? Checked fuses, too?

Check what Justin said, and look close at the ignition trigger wires from the alternator to the ignition unit...on the O and G wires.

Check O/W at the Ignition unit, coil, and kill switch.

Check the decompression module connector.

Where's ReelThing? He might have an idea too.

A good mate of mine loaned me a Suzuki manual from his shop today. Grin

After checking everything I believe the Ignitor Unit is faulty.He told me over the phone that was the likely cause.Supposed to have 500 K ohms from orange to green but am getting just over 200.All the other parameters check out so I'll drop in to the stealership tomorrow & hopefully my problem will be solved.
It's also interesting to note that a cut-off circuit is incorporated into the ignitor unit so that if the engine turns in the reverse direction & reverse current is produced by the starter motor no sparking will occur.
I'll check that out in the morning & see what is happening there.I don't believe that is the case in this situation as the bike was running happily in a forward direction when it stopped.
I have been wrong before though,just ask my ex Grin
