Throtle cable clip question
01/16/07 at 07:33:06
I have a question. there is a clip of some type that goes on the end of the throttle cable holding it into the bracket on the carburetor. This clip was missing on my project bike. If anyone happens to take this clip off to do any work on the carb, I would greatly appreciate a quick picture of the clip. I can't locate it on any of the parts schematics for this bike to order a new one so I am going to have to try and find something that will work. I need it so I can finish the rebuild and try to fire her up.
Thanks for the time.

I've been riding without the clip for over 3 years.

Thanks for the quick reply. That might explain why it wasn't there when I bought the bike. I'll have to try it without the clip.
Thanks again.

It makes it easier to work on the carb. Otherwise You have to remove it and install it too many times. The clip does nothing.

more of a safety issue, prevents the cable from being pulled out of the socket jamming the throttle at a higher rpm then idle.

That clip is a way skinny piece O wire. Shaped like a D with the bottom open. A piece of piano wire from the model shop to slip in the groove in the outer collar that will engage the groove in the throttle cable housing will hold the cable housing down in the "cup"on the carb. You might even be able to make it out of a paper clip, just might not be as reusable as the OEM version. Then, ther's the possibility it is just there as a lawsuit avoidance device.Might never be a problem. Mine is still there. May ditch it one daY, who knows?
