stil no gauge in hand,did futher research..i think the front oil plug is 14x1 and the sender unit is 14x1.5 will make it work somehow tryin to rember the drain plug size if it goes there id lose my magnetic drain plug..
cost is < $140...

I have found the gauge on the german ebay site just not terriby happy about ordering that way.

So 100C = 212F. 212F seems a little toasty, but not too bad at all. Do you have an oil cooler installed?

barry68v10 Serious Thumper Offline Posts: 955 Maryland Gender:	Re: Oil Temperature gauge Reply #25 - 01/14/07 at 03:20:00 Actually, you should be "safe" up to 115C as long as its not for extended periods, but I prefer 90C and below for normal operating temps. 100-115C is "safer" with synthetic oil tho, since dino juice can begin to sludge and need to be changed quicker. But as I said before, the engine can hack it.

No oil cooler yet, the deal is the temp probe is not in the oil but really measures the air temp in the case, I've read where the oil maybe 30-40f hotter than this type of measurement because of air running in and out of the case with piston movement - it's pretty rare for it to go over 100c - if I'm stuck at long light in heavy traffic when it's say >90f in the summer I've seen it get a little over it - yes syn oil here v-twin M1 20w-50 for the summers.
