Superbrace on S40 forks, will it fit?

Can I take a Superbrace from a Savage front end & stick it on an S40? The lower fork tubes on the S 40 have grooves to acomodate the plastic fork protectors. Will that groove be too deep to allow the brace to clamp securely?

Mine is a Savage but I have seen other posts where S40 owners have installed the Superbrace after removing the fork protectors.

Well, cool It's so nice to have the net & folks with common interests. Thanks for the info. I was gonna buy it anyway. I figured I could make a spacer to fill the gap either way.
