Christmas for the Savage!
12/27/06 at 06:51:44
Happy Holidays Everyone!
So, what did everyone get for their bikes this Christmas?
I got a new set of new handlebars. 1.25" fat Z bars. They look killer
Also got a set of chrom grips to show off the new bars
a side mount license plate mount
a new LED tail light w/ 3d skull
Also got a new rear fender blank to make my chopper/bobber fender, a bunch o cash to buy more stuff, and a new torque wrench!
Man, what a great christmas. It's like being a kid again!

Before mounting your bars be sure to check that you have enough room for the risers in the knurled area.
Most bars are knurled at 3and 1/2 centers. The risers on the Savage are 4". If you have enough room where the bar is 1" diameter you will be all set, if not you might have to grind the side of the risers down, or forget the bars. If you do get them on only half of the knurling will be under the clamp area. I suggest pinning them so your bars won't start moving around on you.
GOOD LUCK!! If you get those bars on they will sure be sharp.

Thanks! Got em installed already. went on pretty easily. No problems. A little knurling sticks out, like you mentioned, but they're not goin anywhere. Heck, a lot of those custom bars don't have any knurling on them at all. The bars look really sharp on the bike. Can't wait to get the rest of the stuff on it

As nice as those bars look I am still able to appreciate the stock S 40 ones. To me, the rear end is where the bike starts looking too junked up. The pics I've seen with the smaller turn signals mounted tight to the fender & the chrome off to let the shape of the fender be seen just look a lot better to me. Getting the plate off to the side would, to me, sure help that fender be seen.
Where is that side mount for the plate available?
I wonder how an inspection sticker gets displayed the most clean way? Any clever ideas?
Post Pics of that thing. Looks like Santa likes someone a lot.. LUckeeee.

8) Very cool! Are you gonna mount that tail light under the fender when you remove the stock license plate holder? Seems to have the right shape to fit under there nicely!

Five_Points must be busy, but in answer to your question about the taillight. It can be had for about $55-60 from JP Cycles.

Update!!!! The same taillight as Five_Points is $30 because it has a standard bulb, and not LEDs like I quoted the first time.

my taillight is LED, I got it off ebay, new, for $30+s/h.
The license mount, I got locally. They have them
here
for $60.
The fender, I got off ebay. Did a trade w/ the guy for some
custom work
I do.
I'll get a couple pics as soon as I get it back together. Only thing I've done so far is the bars and grips. Waiting on a cone air filter and breather filter to come in before I take the back tire off and get to work on the rear end and air box mod.
