Have you ever observed the valve lash to decrease between adjustments? It would seem the lash should always increase between adjustments.

air cooled vws decrease clearance(get tight) often as well, i suspect it to be the valve burning into the valve seat, and the valve seat pulling into the head, but i've never done a before and after diagnosis/comparison to confirm.

Last time I did mine they were too tight. Now wether or not the service tech set them too tight at the dealership or they tightened themselves I have no idea. I couldn't even get the .003" feeler guage in there to start with.
