Check your bar size, the newer models have 1" dia. Mine is a '96 and it's 1"
The chrome bar ends are plastic and are just pushed on, should pull right off.
The clutch side is glued on, if you're lucky it will come off fairly easly. For me, insert small phillips screwdriver between the grip and bar where it looks a little loose. Spin the screwdriver so that it peels the grip from the bar and work it further into the bar. Insert 2 more screwdrivers equally spaced around the bar. Grab the grip as a whole and twist it off.
Throttle side is removed with the control, split the control, disengage the cable, done. Just take a good look at everything before you remove it so you know how it goes back together.
