IMO the thing to do is go with apes and put a chopper windshield on that clamps to the handlebars. Good compromise between full shield & flyscreen. These were very popular in the 70's. I think they still sell 'em; but if not, you can cut your own, and get it the heighth you want. Doesn't take away from the look; looks kinda cool, in fact.

Depends on how high they are. I would agree with you on the super high ones that can also be a handling hazzard. And yeah, it's more of a guy thing. BTW, are apes better than dogs? (8^>)
