Hey Old Fella, if the rear tire is a stock IRC then you can't expect much more than 5,000 miles or so out of it. Also think the continous pulsing of the big single puts more wear on the rear tire. That along with some WOT from stoplights takes it's toll on the rear rubber Grin, I enjoy the he11 out of my bike, glad to hear you do too.

Thanks ya'll.
I'm following the thread on swapping pulleys/switching to chain and sprockets closely. I could live with loosing some quickness in order to get the 70 mph RPMs down some.

What is the title of the thread you are talking about?

OK_Mike, he's talking about the belt pulley thread.  I think we concluded (I haven't pulled the case to verify) that a sprocket/chain swap for the belt drive was the only cost effective option...

nice response, Thumpinsquid.

and your mother's mother, torque! seems like 0-60 in first in 3.5 ain't much if Thumpinsquid can do 0-60 in 4 seconds & change gear twice in that time! are you sure you weren't more intent on impressing the 16 year old girls burning rubber off the back tire than actually going forward @ the time?

Grin

thats why i said he's full of bs. the savage does 0 to 60 in 5 seconds in second gear.in 5 seconds on my bike im doing 92 in second gear.  if u didnt notice already i'm just here to snif out bullsh!t.

it cost 6,200 before tax. if u can beat a v-max u might be able to hang with me.what have u done to it?bored and stroked, nitrous? my neighbor has one and its pretty slow, my dads 1200 sporty can stop it,and the sporty is no competion for me.

Not true  Roll Eyes Mine have close to 4,000 miles and still look like brand new tire--tons of tread left. Must be the way people ride and stop their bikes ???

Oh, sorry torque.  I didn't realize you didn't really know much about drag racing.  Chech out this site and educate yourself, then come back and talk to me...

, but I wasn't sure if Harleys, or which Harleys had 1" handlebars. Biker's Choice, Jireh cycles and Bike Bandit as well as the stealership websites list there aftermarket handlebars by which Harley they are intended for, or at the least, lack a discription of the handlebar diameter, while they still show rise and pull back, etc. I'm on leave until the 20th, so I got some time to tinker...

welcome t'squid, i'm assuming from your logon, that you're currently employed in uncle sam's canoe club? i did six years, and spent three of those on a spruance class destroyer, of that 1 year in the yards in west seattle. anyway to the bars, i have a set of harley bars on my wifes savage. they fit fine, you'll notice that the splines dont line up to the clamps perfectly, but that hasn't been a problem. i think all harley bars are 1", as i have 1 1/4" fat bars on my harley, but they're still 1" at the clamps. i dont have any real idea which model her bars came from, i just bought a used set from my local chopper shop ($10) that were more comfortable than suzuki's excuse for pull backs. dennis kirk is one of my favorite venders, free catalogs, free shipping on orders over $100, only $6 for orders less than $100.

torque, it was faster than a gsxr 750 to 1000 feet even though the gsxr speed was significantly faster, do you know why?

In fact, from the r6 time sheets I could find, it looks like an r6 is about .1 sec faster than a magna in 1/4 mile.  I conceded the 1/4 but didn't realize the r6 was so slow... Wink

my pappy once told me, "liars can figure, and figures can lie"

a drag race is all about the rider/driver.  i've seen many many cars/bikes that are outclassed just whoop the superior machine. so unless all the machines being timed where ridden by the same rider the numbers mean nothing.

thats was the idea behind IROC all the cars were(supposed to be)the same so the race was about the drivers' skills...
