The elusive starter motor

I've searched all over the internet and I can't seem to find this part for a 1987 savage!!!!
Do any of you know if there is a place that could rebuild mine? I have no idea who I could take it to. I don't want to pay the $288 the dealership is asking  Angry
any help would be great.
Thanks,
Frost  Smiley

what are the symtoms??total failure??weak??if you can turn a wrench there are  components of a starter you can check yourself..goggle starter motors if you need to see a picture for parts i.d...
the brushes...if the starter has trouble turning over the engine... the service limit is 9 mm  .35"
dirty commutator..   polish with # 400 emery, then wipe clean..check the segment height from the mica..service limit   .2 mm   .008"
inspect bearings for play..
ANY starter, alternator shop should be able to re build your starter tho my need to use dealer for new/replacment parts....
