What I haven't been able to tell is what jet setting (and what kind of jets---mikuni or dyna) people have used in combination with other variables such as a. model  carburetor, b. their relationship to sea level (which impacts oxygen flow), c. exhaust system being used.

For those that have done their mods, could you please post this type of info for us newbies?? ???

It really depends on what mods you've done. Different exhausts require different jetting because of varying backpressure. Opening your intake or installing a freer flowing air filter will require richer jetting. You can get starting recommendations here (jetting for most exhausts have been posted). If you can't find what you're looking for, ask. Altitude changes jetting but to what extent, I don't know. We have some members who live at altitude...just ask.

Most here run the original Mikuni CV carb and use large round Mikuni jets. Some have installed the jet kit from Dynojet. Everything is included in the kit but it's quite a bit of $$$. You can get perfectly good results by installing a bigger main jet and shaving the white spacer that's above the needle. That's what most here have done.

I'm at sea level.  I run a Sportster muff, drop in K&N filter, 152.5 main jet in the stock carb, and I have no idea what the idle screw is at.  I just kept working with it until it was 'just right.'  Of course, I'm not as meticulous about keeping track of such things as many members here are.

I do belive that savage_rob has the right of it.  Each bike is different from the others in small ways, so even working at the same altitude, etc. with the same settings, the bikes will probably run a little differently.  Playing with it, tinkering with it, and experimenting are all part of the fun!

we're at +300', but the low desert requires air cooled jetting, a little on the fat side to protect against the heat.  my signature has a complete list of mods i've done.
