Drilling out foot-pegs
07/21/06 at 11:38:16

I got new foot-pegs from JC Whitney.  The opening in the footpeg is too small I'll have to drill it out.  Probably will ask someone more experienced in the family.  Wonder how hard it is.  Also, the new foot-pegs don't have the little lip thing like the stock ones do and I'll probably have to put a washer in to make it wide enough.

I'd appreciate foot-peg installation advise.  Thanks.

I recommand a press drill to be nice and straight with the footpeg in a vise. Should not be difficult.

are they supposed to be stock relacements? or custom for our application? or just a custom install? drilling simply requires a sharp drill bit and a steady hand, the existing hole will act as a guide, although a drill press is always my first choice ( i have one), not everybody has access to one. can you show us a picture or a link to the jcwhitney part on their web? i replaced debby's with an ISO type, from streethawk, firehawk,,,,, "something"hawk, previously reviewed and reccomended here, they were are "bolt on" no issues at all.
oops, i'm logged in on debby's log-in Embarrassed jay

This is the link to the Peg photo.  I got the round ones.  Maybe I'll return them for the hawk ones or something.

Thanks

yes ma'am, i would either return those, save them for trade/barter later, or they would make a great set of highway pegs, the cost to return ship may not be worth the refund. the "hawks do have a set just like those specificly for our savages, bolt on exact fit. do a search the other venders should come up in the discussion, it took me 6 weeks to get debby's from the warehouse, i did a review in the marketplace and when i posted the pics after install. it seems to me that someone else paid a little more, but got them much quicker.

Do you have a more specific description of the name of yours and the manufacturer and supplier.  I'll check the marketplace and see what I find too.

Thanks,

B

gave up?  ??? on the idea of modifying th JCs, or on our assistance? i'm sorry if you were waiting on my specifics Embarrassed, i've been busy at work and home. here is a link to the SLOW outfit i bought debby's hawk pegs from, they do show a set with the little rings like your JCs, if that is what you wanted. i bought the comfort type specifically by application for the savage and they fit perfectly, no mods nessesary. i'm sure you'll be happy with them.

These are kick starter pedals for harleys...  and yes, a drill press is the way to go... as long as you can get through the chrome.

No, I didn't give up on getting assistance.  You all are great.   I chickened out on modifying the JCs.  I didn't feel let down at all.  No worries.  I'm not really all that much of a wrench and I don't want to mess something up.  So, for me, it is probably better to buy something that fits when I get it. Thanks.
