Indicators on but none of them flash!!
07/20/06 at 13:43:19

Hi,
I have a problem with my new indicators Sad .

I put on new aftermarket "non-led" alloycators yesterday and although front and rear left and also front and rear right light up on when switched on by the turn signal switch on the handlesbar, none of the lights flash!! ???

I was wondering where the flasher relay is situated on the bike, and what it exactly looks like? I had a problem with the stock front right indicator (not working) before I installed the new alloycators eagle eye indicators.

I've also removed the sissy bar and will post up new pics next week of the slimmed down Savage. 8)

Cheers,
Tomohawk

Flasher location:
RH front, on the frame just under the tank. Follow the throttle cable where it disappears under the tank. You can replace it with out removing the tank.

Suggest you take the plug off and clean it before proceding.

Wink Did you change the bulbs or are they the originals? Offenly those flashers relays are load dependants. You need the right bulbs wattage. Then you can try a new flashers relay. Grin

Dont know what bulbs are in these new units. I have a feeling that the previous owner had tinkered with the flasher relay. I took off the headlight and out fell a small black round unit with a red and a black wire going into it. What was that doing in the headlight unit attached to the indicator wiring with extra wires...

I will have a look for the original flasher realy under the tank tomorrow.

At the moment all the indicators work as they should except they dont flash!!

Must be a load equalizer to permit your flasher relay to work with your new flashers. Not sure if equalizer is the right term, it contains some resistance to upper the load so your new flashers can works.Check for any company name on it so you could search how to hook it back.

This unit was installed and running with the standard chrome savage indicators before I got the bike?  Shocked???

Surely new indicator should just slot right into the system. These are good branded indicators...

If the thing was originally there check the wattage of the new bulbs then you might need a load equaliser to make them work. I don`t have the manual for that bike but i`m pretty sure the flasher relay is load dependant.
