Front brake suggestions??
06/16/06 at 11:45:07

I'm coming up on 3200 miles on my 2001 Savage.  The brakes (stock) have been doing the "squeek" thing for awhile now and I'm finally sick of it.  Anybody have suggestions on brake pads?

Just get rid of the front brakes all together.  Then you can have100% of your stopping power in the rear instead of just a lousy 30%!   Wink

Why save the rear? Scrap them too. You can always put your feet down. That'll work till you get to that truck. Grin

One of my room mates has about 20 bicycles.  On quite a few of them, he's removed the brakes.  Bushes & feet = stopping power.  He once ran into another guy on a bike w/o brakes!  Don't try this while drunk, kids!  It hurts!

Heck, you might as well lighten her up by ditching the engine and transmission and running her full Fred Flintstone style.

EBC is a brand of brake pad. A MityVac is a brake-bleeding device with a vacuum pump. It makes one-person brake bleeding easy.
If you're changing your brake pads, you don't need to bleed your brakes, or even take off the front wheel. But - Suzuki recommend changing your fluid every 2 years, and changing the brake hose every 4. I think both are good suggestions - brake fluid absorbs moisture - and changing the brake line allows you to go with a stainless-steel braided one, if you choose (stiffer feel).

You can bleed your brakes with an assistant quite easily. The MityVac would be nice if you didn't have an assistant, or wanted to flush the lines on your cage.

You could try E.B.C. disc & pads, I have them on both ends of my KLX and they work well.
