Now THAT is how they should have started out. That frame is strutted properly (inline with the backbone). Looks like one of the stock shocks for the seat suspension. Color matched headlight bucket. Looks like a Vulcan or Shadow tank. Upswept fishtail, no muffler.
Robert is supposed to be over tonight with the struts for Pokey. Using a set of car leafspring lift shackles for now. Will close the fender gap and let him ride while we are machining the stainless or aluminum replacements. I dug out a set of CMX450C tubeless spoke wheels the other day, 18 front, 15 rear. So, the bike will keep the proper spoked wheel look, but be able to run modern tubeless tires. Well, assuming the wheels bolt in fine that is. I'll haul the bike up and test fit them later, moving comes first. If it works, the bike will have nice, narrow, 90/90/18 front, 130/90/15 rear tires. Better handling!
Oh, for anyone who wants to try the seat shock set-up, I hve a copy of The Horse Backstreet Choppers that walks you through it. Not the clearest directions in the world, nor the best photos, but, it's a start. Sluggo, I sent you the pages, do they transfer alright via e-mail or should they be hardcopied and snail mailed? -WD
